The Elaphite Islands of South Dalmatia are thirteen large and small islands, which are also called "deer islands" (from the Greek elafos - deer). They are called so because the outlines of these islands with bays and bays, when put together, will resemble deer antlers.
Lokrum Island, a small island (only 0.8 sq. km), is very close to Dubrovnik (15 minutes by boat from the port of the Old Town). There is a Botanical Garden on the island, where tropical and subtropical plants grow, as well as several families of peacocks.
