Robben Island
Robben Island
South Africa, Cape Town
Robben Island is located 12 kilometers north of Cape Town. It has an area of about 5 square kilometers. Robben Island is primarily known not for its nature, but for the fact that Nelson Mandela was kept in prison here for 18 years. Soon after the abolition of apartheid, the prison was closed, and the island was turned into an open-air museum and became open to tourists.
