Translated from Vietnamese, the name of the lake means “Lake of the Returned Sword”, which is associated with the legend of Emperor Le Loi, who, with the help of a magic sword given by the Golden Turtle, raised an uprising against the tyranny of the Chinese rulers and won, after which the turtle demanded that the sword be returned to the lake , which was done. On the two lake islands are the Turtle Tower and the Jade Mountain Temple (Ngoc Son Temple). North Jade Island is connected to the coast by the wonderful wooden Rising Sun Bridge.
