The San Diego Zoo is one of the largest and most advanced zoos in the world, located at
Balboa Park on an area of about 40 hectares, which contains about 4,000 individuals of 650 species and subspecies of animals. The zoo specializes in restoring populations of rare and endangered animals. This is the only albino koala on Earth, neotragus antelope, the most smallest on the planet, zoo-born condors, pygmy hippos, okapis, Sumatran tigers, guanacos, Malayan bears, here, for the first time in the world, a panda was born in captivity.

The main part of the huge zoo can be viewed using a sightseeing bus or a gondola on a cable car.
