Area Seaport Village
seaport village
USA, San Diego
A popular tourist spot is the former port village of Seaport Village, located on the site of the San Diego Seaport and Fish Market. Here along the sea, in buildings that have survived from those times, there are dozens of shops, souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants aimed at tourists. The former Port Authority building now houses a small local police museum that recreates the atmosphere of an early 20th century police station.
Near Seaport Village, in the hull of the aircraft carrier USS Midway, there is a floating aircraft carrier museum - with artillery magazines, a canteen, flight decks with combat and rescue aircraft and helicopters.
On the territory of Seaport Village, street musicians, clowns, magicians perform, poetry is read here and small plays are staged. On its embankment there is a carousel built in 1895 and decorated with carved figures of 54 animals and two horse-drawn chariots.
