Balboa Park
USA, San Diego
Balboa Park is the largest urban park in the United States, with an area of 490 hectares, named after the Spanish navigator Nunez de Balboa. The buildings of the park, in the style of colonial Spanish architecture, were built in 1915-1916 for the exhibition held in honor of the completion of the construction of the Panama Canal. In the central part of the park, along El Prado Street, there are 17 museums, including the Aviation and Aeronautics Museum, the Photography Museum, the Human Museum, and the Automotive Museum.
Balboa Park includes several themed gardens: botanical, Japanese, rose garden and cactus garden, palm grove. The park houses the San Diego Zoo, a tennis center with 25 outdoor courts, a swimming pool, a velodrome, baseball and softball, bowling and golf fields, an outdoor symphony hall with an organ, and a cinema. Entrance to the park is free, but you must purchase a ticket to enter the museums. Every Tuesday you can visit four museums for free, and every Sunday there are free organ concerts.
