The Statue of Liberty, symbol of New York and the United States, is located on Liberty Island, southwest of
Manhattan Island. It was created by the famous Eiffel and installed in 1886. A copper statue of the goddess with a torch in her hand, 46 meters high, stands on a 47-meter granite pedestal. the total weight of the structure is almost 200 tons. In order for the visitor to climb from the base to the crown of Liberty, 356 steps must be climbed. The statue appears in many works of art, it inspires writers, artists, composers and simply connoisseurs of beauty.
