South Street Seaport is a port and district of New York. It was founded by the Dutch in the first half of the 17th century. For three centuries, the port was the center of the commercial and economic life of the city. Now South Street Seaport is an urban area where hotels, shops, cafes and restaurants are concentrated. There is also a museum recreating the life of New York sailors of past centuries.
