The American Museum of Natural History is located near the west side of
Central Park. It was opened in 1869. The museum is located in 25 interconnected buildings, its richest collection contains more than 32 million items. It is divided into thematic halls: Hall of Minerals, Hall of Precious Stones, Hall of Meteorites, Hall of Fossils, Hall of Human Origins. Also fascinating is the library, founded in 1880, with more than 450,000 books.
