Washington Cathedral is located in the northwest part of the city near the National Zoo. The construction of the main Anglican church in the capital lasted 83 years and was completed in 1990. The Gothic cathedral, made of white Indiana limestone, is richly decorated with frescoes, mosaics and wrought iron ornaments. And ten plates under the altar symbolize the Ten Commandments.
