The Washington Monument is located on National Mall. It took 40 years to build and was officially opened in 1885. The 91-ton granite obelisk is 169 meters high and lined with Maryland marble. Inside it is an elevator, with which you can climb the observation deck located on the roof - the panorama of the city that opens from here is simply amazing.
