The Capitol is a grand building in the Empire style, where the US Congress sits. It is located on top of the Capitol Hill - the historic center of the city. The capitol was built at the beginning of the 19th century, survived the burning by the British and was rebuilt anew. The dome of the 87-meter building is decorated with a bronze statue of Liberty holding a shield and a laurel wreath.
