Viaduct in Vorokhta
Carpathians, Vorokhta
In addition to the fact that the village of Vorokhta is considered a ski resort, it has its own amazing attraction that attracts not only ski lovers. We are talking about a railway viaduct built at the very end of the 19th century by the authorities at that time of Austria-Hungary. To be more precise, there are four similar bridges in these places, and trains still run on two of them. However, the most majestic and picturesque viaduct "passes" through the center of Vorokhta. Its length is 130 meters, and the width of the central arch is 25 meters. Thus, the viaduct in Vorokhta is one of the longest stone bridges in Europe. Currently, the bridge is not in operation: in order to preserve the historical site, a new, modern one was built nearby in 2000.
