The Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life is located in the open air near the
Uzhhorod Castle. It was opened in 1970. The museum is represented by examples of folk Transcarpathian architecture and consists of several estates, residential buildings, a church, a bell tower, a school, a forge, a tavern and a mill, and the total number of exhibits exceeds 14 thousand. A special place in the museum is occupied by the church from the village of Shelestovo, one of the few surviving Lemko churches.
