Cherry blossoms are why hundreds and thousands of travelers flock to Uzhgorod for the May holidays. The largest concentration of sakura trees can be seen on Pushkin Square and Rakoczi and Dovzhenko streets (all of them are located in the city center and are adjacent to the embankment). But single cherry trees, as well as magnolias, Japanese quince and ornamental apple trees, can be found throughout the city. According to the legend, which the guides will gladly tell you, sakura was stolen from the Japanese, who spent the night in neighboring Mukachevo.→
