Church of St. Nicholas in Tyachevshchyna
Carpathians, Tiachiv
The Church of St. Nicholas was built in 1470 in the Odarov tract and subsequently moved to its present place in the village of Kolodnoye in the Tyachiv region. The church went through several building phases. The main log cabins of the church, which are the oldest elements, were built in the 15th century from oak logs 12 m long. A little later (XVI-XVIII centuries) appeared: an archaic window on the eastern wall behind the altar, similar to a flower-cross, a round window on the northern wall , square windows on the side facades of the church, the entrance portal of the shrine. During the reconstruction in the 16th century, a second tier appeared. The roof is another era - the 1770s. At the same time, a gallery appeared, and the tower "moved away" from the center of the church and acquired an expressively baroque character. According to the Latin inscription on the plafond, the wall paintings were made by Anthony Vali in the 18th century.
The Church of St. Nicholas is a landmark of national importance, it is considered the pearl of wooden church construction in Ukraine. Such sights are extremely valuable, since they actually remained only in Ukraine and Moldova. There are several equivalent sights in the Scandinavian countries.
