The wooden lower church of St. Nicholas of the 17th century is located in the village. Sredne Vodyanoe, Rakhovsky District. Nearby, on a higher hill, stands the Upper Church of St. Nicholas, an earlier one. The lower church with a high hipped tower, founded in 1640, was built of oak beams, has a main rectangular frame and a smaller one - a pentagonal altar. The central log cabin is covered with a box vault, the altar one - with a flat ceiling. Both log cabins are covered with a single gable roof, under which there is another roof, both roofs are covered with wooden shingles. Atypical for Ukrainian churches is the placement of entrance doors not from the west, but from the south side of the building.
Outside and inside the temple is devoid of any decorations, only small and narrow windows break the monolithic surface of the log cabins. In 1669 the church was raised to replace the lower rotted logs. The Lower Nicholas Church belongs to the local Greek Catholic community, but services are held in another, new brick church. The architectural monument of the 17th century, at this time, is slowly being destroyed.
