Church of St. Stephen and Park of Monuments
Carpathians, Solotvyno
The Roman Catholic Church of St. Stephen in the village of Solotvyno was built in 1856 on the site of a wooden chapel built in 1833, erected after the founding of the local Catholic community. It is a real architectural decoration of Solotvyno. The stone temple was erected in the neo-Gothic style, the entrance to the church is arranged in a two-tiered quadrangular high tower with a cone-shaped dome crowned with a Catholic cross. There are clocks on four sides of the dome.
Not far from the Church of St. Stephen is a park of monuments, created by local Hungarians in honor of the millennial anniversary of the Hungarian parish in Transcarpathia. Among the centuries-old trees, there are tombstones of the leaders of the seven Hungarian tribes and sculptures made of white stone depicting Hungarian saints, including St. Stephen. Benches are installed around the monuments, with famous quotes about the Fatherland of people who have made a great contribution to the history of Hungary carved on them.
