St. Nicholas Monastery

St. Nicholas Monastery is located in the northeastern part of the city on the banks of the Latoritsa River. It was founded in the 11th century. For three centuries the monastery served as an episcopal residence. The monastery complex acquired its modern baroque appearance at the beginning of the 19th century. The two central buildings of the monastery are St. Nicholas and St. Assumption churches.
