Park in Oreanda, Oreanda Park
Crimea, Yalta
Park "Nizhnyaya Oreanda" is located on the territory of the South Coast region of Crimea, within the area of the sanatorium "Nizhnyaya Oreanda" of the Yalta City Executive Committee, in the coastal part.
The territory of the sanatorium "Lower Oreanda" occupies an area of 48.9 hectares and includes: the main territory, with an area of 27.7 hectares, a nature protection zone with an area of 19.5 hectares and a beach area with an area of 1.7 hectares. On the territory of the sanatorium there are 2 objects of the natural reserve fund: the park-monument of landscape art "Lower Oreanda", announced by the decision of the regional executive committee in December 1972, as well as the natural monument "Mount Krestovaya", announced by the decision of the regional executive committee in September 1969.
In all seasons, the Lower Oreanda Park is beautiful. The combination of lush greenery with a fabulous pile of rocks gives it a special expressiveness and originality. Delightful is the alley of pyramidal cypress, Atlas blue cedar, thickets of noble laurel, large-flowered magnolias, photinia, and a grove of European olives. An oriental plane tree, or plane tree, which rises in the center of the park, adds exceptional beauty to the entire appearance of the area. It is the largest and oldest among all the age-old plane trees of the South Shore: 30 meters in height and 6.5 meters in trunk circumference. But if we take into account that in the countries of the Mediterranean plane trees live for over 2000 years, then this plane tree is nothing more than a baby, it is not even three hundred years old.
