The Church of St. Michael the Archangel is a church above the village of Oreanda, built in 2006 at the foot of the
mountain Ai-Nikola next to the Yalta-Sevastopol highway. Landmark of the southern coast of Crimea. The temple is under the jurisdiction of the Simferopol diocese of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate.
The church was erected near the place where the ancient Christian monastery was located, the remains of which were found by archaeologists. The idea of erecting a temple on this site in the name of Archangel Michael belongs to the Yalta family of Mikhail Karashkevich, who, together with other patrons, donated money for the construction of the temple. On November 21, 2006, the church was consecrated by Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea.
The church was built according to the project of the famous Yalta architect Vyacheslav Bondarenko. The interior (iconostasis and icons) was developed by icon painters from Western Ukraine, headed by V. Gumenyuk, who decorated many churches in Western Ukraine.
The mountains located around the church create unusual acoustics. This is used by priests to broadcast the singing of the male church choir. Repeatedly reflected from the rocks, the singing of the choir acquires a monumental sound that can only be achieved in special concert halls.
