Cape Plaka

Plaka
Crimea, Utes
Monument of nature (1947).

Plaka is a small cape on the southern coast of Crimea, east of Ayu-Dag. This is an original in shape, resembling an owl in profile, a mushroom-shaped rock. The magmatic body of the cape is enveloped by black ribbons of giant stone shells made of fossil clays. The steep slopes are riddled with numerous cracks.

Opposite the cape, in the sea, is a group of islets of the same origin - Bird Rocks. In the Middle Ages, a fortification and a lighthouse Lambas (from the Greek "candle, torch, lamp"), which was mentioned by ancient Greek geographers, was located on Cape Plaka.
