In the Crimea, I saw several Genoese fortresses - in Feodosia, Balaklava, Alushta. The Sudak Genoese fortress is the only one of all that the restorers brought to mind. The rest are a rather pathetic sight. Sudak fortress is beautiful! Well restored, and at first glance, really impregnable! But only for the first. On my first visit to Sudak, in 2001, I went inside for the first and last time. And, of course, not through the gate. There is a "bottleneck" there, where, in a fairly secluded corner, you can climb the wall and get over to the other side.→
