Sapun Mountain

Sapun dağı
Crimea, Sevastopol
From the highway from Sevastopol to Balaklava, you can climb the legendary battlefield - Sapun Mountain. The mountain is made of bentonite clay, used in ancient times as soap (breather, in Turkish). Dominating the approaches to the city from the south, the mountain has always been the most important strategic point, and during the liberation of the Crimea in the Great Patriotic War, it became the site of a decisive battle. Diorama "Assault on Sapun Mountain May 7, 1944" has in the objective plan a lot of genuine weapons and ammunition from the battlefield. In front of the diorama building, field and anti-aircraft guns, armored vehicles, Katyusha guards mortars, military equipment of military sailors are installed, and captured fascist equipment is also on display. There are many mass graves and monuments in the vicinity, including the heroes of military units formed in the Crimea, Armenia, Georgia and other regions of the Soviet Union. These monuments were made at the expense of grateful countrymen and serve as gathering places for veterans.

Sevastopol is my love, I have been here every year for 9 years. All the attractions cost and were forgotten in the first year. The most vivid memory remains exactly the Panorama on Sapun Mountain. The scale is amazing, and the detail is amazing. I love to visit here, I try to choose days when there are few visitors and tourists. This place is worth seeing and worth a visit. With family, with your soulmate or on your own.
