Sivash bay
Rotten Sea Bay, Lake Sivash
Crimea, Krasnoperekopsk
Sivash is a vast, very shallow and salty bay of the Azov Sea - a very complex interweaving of land and water, a kind of amphibious labyrinth. It is winding, forms numerous bays, peninsulas and islands, of which there are more than 60 in the Sivash water area. Some of the islands were declared protected in 1947. Among them are the islands of China, Kuyuk-Tuk, Martynyachiy located in the central part of the Sivash landscape. A lot of nesting and migratory birds live and stop here for rest. Herring gulls, gray ducks, and shelducks are especially numerous. On the islands of Kitay and Martynyachy, the largest nesting place on the Sivash is the nesting of terns - beautiful birds with white plumage, a black "cap" on their heads and a bright red beak. It can be difficult to walk around the island: nests of gulls and gray ducks lie at a distance of 1-2 meters from each other. On the island of Kuyuk-Tuk there are nesting nests of shelducks and the place of growth of the Schrenk tulip, listed in the Red Book.
