Chokrak lake
Lake Chokrak
Crimea, Kerch
Lake Chokrakskoye is located on the southern coast of the Sea of Azov in the northern part of the Kerch Peninsula, 18 km from the city of Kerch (northwest). This is a saline relict reservoir, separated from the sea by a sand barrier (in the geological past, a sea bay). The area of the lake is 8.7 sq. m, water depth (brines): average 0.2 m, maximum - 0.6 m. Chokrak mud is an analogue of the well-known mud of Lake Saki, differing from them in higher mineralization and less contamination with pH mud crystals.
