Batiliman tract (Ayyazma) - (translated from Greek as "deep bay") stretches in a narrow ribbon along the coast, pressed to the sea by a sheer wall of mountains with the top of Kush-Kaya. At Cape Aya, this strip comes close to the coast and only near Laspi retreats for a kilometer and a half. The place is surprisingly cozy, warm, one of the sunniest in the Crimea - over 2400 hours of sunshine per year.

Here in 1911-1914. a group of scientists, writers, artists built about 20 small dachas, laying the foundation for the resort village of Batiliman. The purest air, the proximity of the sea, the beauty of wildlife, solitude contributed to the rest and work of scientists in the best possible way. But the lack of reliable water sources hindered the development of the resort.

And now it is limited, since the reserve "Cape Aya" created here, the pristine nature of the entire natural complex of Batiliman are of great scientific interest, and the coast untouched by construction, relic juniper groves tall, small-fruited strawberries, Stankevich pines require exceptional environmental protection.
A few words about Stankevich's pine. First of all, it is a rare endemic, that is, a species of flora characteristic only for the Crimea. But on our peninsula, this pine is found only in two places - near Sudak and in the area of ​​u200bu200bCape Aya. At the cape, it climbs the mountain slopes of the cliffs to a height of 300 m, most often forming light forests. Its emerald needles with large vertically sitting candle cones stand out brightly against the background of ash-pink limestone rocks.
In summer, the air here is filled with the scent of pines, junipers, herbs and the sea... The reserved silence is resounded only by the chirping of cicadas. Here nature follows its eternal laws.
