I recommend a more beautiful, faster and more informative route from the side of the Adym-Chokrakskaya valley. There is a steep, but not long trail past the cave South Annunciation Monastery, then a small extreme climb along a wooden stepladder into the gorge - and you are at the top of the plateau. Gorgeous views in all directions immediately open.
There are many ruins of temples, basilicas, etc. on the plateau, so you need to visit Mangup accompanied by a local history guide. There is also a cave settlement here, where you can climb the grottoes to your heart's content, there are also several springs in the beams, where it is good to make a picnic stop and hide from the heat or bad weather.
And it’s better to go down the Tabana-Dere beam, through the forest and past the Karaite cemetery. The end of the route is at the Mangup tourist camp, near the Lake, where they offer various types of recreation and entertainment (horseback riding, barbecue, etc. ).
