Kachinsky cave monastery
Cave Monastery Kachi Kalyon
Crimea, Bakhchysarai
Above the river valley Kacha opposite with. Bashtanovka (southwest of Bakhchisaray) cliffs rise with five landslide grottoes. The cave monastery consists of several hundred cells hanging right over the highway. Outbuildings are carved into large rocks, arches of destroyed churches are visible. Many tarapans for making wine, as well as the remains of fortress walls made of large hewn stones.
A small church is carved in a separate block at the foot of the cliff. And under the arches of the most grandiose fourth grotto, the spring of St. Anastasia the Patterner fills with water. According to legend, she helps a successful resolution of the burden. Until the destruction in the 1930s, there was a nunnery here. A huge old cherry grows near the spring.
The ancient source of Tash-Air is also famous at the bottom of the highway leading from here to Bakhchisaray. If you pour water on a nearby cliff, then magical drawings made in reddish ocher will appear. Right next to the highway, under a cliff, the Kachinsky canopy darkens - a usual stop for such places for primitive hunters who killed mammoths and other ancient living creatures with stones from above.
