Kachinsky Canyon
Kachin Canyon
Crimea, Bakhchysarai
Monument of nature (1969), state reserve (1974). Broken in the mountain range by the river Kachay, this canyon, with a width of 150 meters, is rather difficult to access. On the steep rocky slopes of the canyon, picturesque headlands-bastions rise, at their foots there are huge grottoes-niches. In the grottoes, sites of primitive man were found: flint tools and bones of extinct animals. This monument of the Quaternary period of the relief development of the foothill Crimea clearly convinces us of the enormous destructive and creative power of flowing waters.
