Vasilyevsky Church is located in the regional center of Ovruch, Zhytomyr region. It was built in 1190 in the Russian style on the site of a wooden church from 977. The church was destroyed in the 14th century by the Lithuanians, and restored at the beginning of the 20th century by the famous architect Shchusev. Fragments of frescoes remained from the old church. Now Vasilyevsky Church is a functioning temple belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
