Water tower
Watchtower, Water Tower
Ukraine, Vinnytsia
The water tower with a clock is a symbol of Vinnitsa, located on the pedestrian part of Nikolai Ovodov Street, adjacent to the European Square. The brick tower was erected in 1912 for the city water supply and fire tower on the upper tier, according to the project of the architect G.G. Artynov, whose monument is located nearby. During the Second World War, the 28-meter-high tower-tower was used as an observation point for the city and its outskirts. In the post-war years, the tower was converted into apartments for workers of the water utility. Since 1993, the Museum of the memory of soldiers who died during the fighting in Afghanistan in 1979-89 has been opened here. The water tower is an architectural monument of local importance.
