The Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior is the main temple of the Vinnitsa Orthodox Diocese, an architectural monument of the 18th century, part of the
Mura complex. The cathedral was built and consecrated in 1833 in a converted building of the abolished Dominican church. After the revolution of 1917, the cathedral was closed twice, from 1984 to 1990 it housed a hall of organ and chamber music, as well as the administration of the regional philharmonic society. In the interior of the cathedral, fragments of wall paintings of the 18th century, a wooden spiral staircase leading to the choirs, have been preserved. A native of Vinnitsa, the Ukrainian writer Mikhail Mikhailovich Kotsyubinsky, who had previously been baptized here, got married in the Transfiguration Cathedral.
The cathedral has a Sunday school and a library of church literature. The bishops' choir of the cathedral was twice recognized as the best church choir in Ukraine, and the children's choir of the cathedral repeatedly became the winner of all-Ukrainian song contests.competitions.
