You can go to Vilkovo in different formats. There are, for example, two-day tours with fishing and overnight at the Danube base. The other extreme is a bus tour, when the group is transported in a crowd through all the main “ticks” of the reserve and the village. There is a fishing format, with tents, gear and lots of mosquito repellents. We chose an intermediate...

We arrived by car, found a guide with a boat, who gave us an individual tour, and bought the fish separately from local hucksters. But first things first.

A bus tour from Primorsky would cost about 250 UAH. This even includes some kind of lunch, but they said that we should not especially roll out the lip.

It is possible to come to rest in Vilkovo, but it would be a strange decision if you are not a fisherman. What is the point of relaxing on a river, even if it is the Danube, if there is the Black Sea 30 kilometers away? But for fishermen, this is Mecca - sturgeon is found and caught here.

Vilkovo itself is a huge village.
It is even strange to call it a village, the central street has a length of at least 3-4 km, and in terms of population (almost 10 thousand), it will give odds to many cities. In the village there are three large beautiful churches of some special, very pleasant architecture. Several canals pass through Vilkovo, but it bears little resemblance to Venice.

The Danube is wide and powerful, the water is opaque, muddy, but clean, odorless. Here and there motor or rowing boats scurry about. The local boats have their own special structure, which provides a smooth, silent ride, a large carrying capacity and reliability for decades.

There are hundreds of canals around the Danube, small and large, flowing and deaf, which communicate with each other, forming a labyrinth. Some of these canals run through Vilkovo. Swimming on them is very interesting. Here and there on the banks there are vegetable gardens, there is no entrance to them - only by water.

At the end of our tour, a ruthless downpour covered us.
The old awning on the boat not only did not save, but served as such a “funnel” for rainwater, directing it exactly at our heads. Wet to the skin, but happy went home.
