Not far from the Museum of the History of Truskavets and the Kurortny Park is the Church of St. Nicholas, which belongs to the UGCC. Its construction dates back to 1861-86, and the bell tower standing next to it dates back to 1920. It is believed that the Church was built on the site of a temple that existed here as early as the 16th century.
Of the more modern buildings nearby - the sculptural composition "Jesus and the Samaritan Woman", a monument to Metropolitan Andriy Sheptytsky and a monument to the Fighters for the Freedom of Ukraine. On a small hill next to it is a sculpture of the Virgin Mary and a wall of memory of the Heavenly Hundred.
According to my observations, the inhabitants of Western Ukraine are generally more pious and religious people compared to the population of the center or north of the country. Therefore, it is possible to observe large gatherings of believers near the Church not only on the days of great church holidays.
So, for example, during our stay in Truskavets there was the Annunciation and the service in the Church, of course, gathered a huge number of people.
But I remember another scene. When we were returning to the hotel at 10 pm, and a guy and a girl were walking ahead of us, the guy stopped near the Church, went to the temple, prayed, and the girl at that time calmly waited for him nearby. For us, such pictures are a curiosity.
If you are lucky and you get inside (the church is usually closed outside of worship times), you will be able to admire the preserved four-tiered iconostasis of the second half of the 19th century. We saw the iconostasis, but we were embarrassed to take a picture of it during the gathering of parishioners. : ))
