Church of the Annunciation
Church of the Annunciation
Ukraine, Trostianets
The Church of the Annunciation, the oldest stone building in Trostyanets, was built in the style of early classicism with baroque elements in 1750 at the expense of the local landowner Osip Timofeevich Nadarzhinsky. A four-tiered bell tower adjoins the temple on the western side. The territory of the church is fenced with a brick plastered wall with pillars. The Church of the Annunciation has three altars: in the name of the Annunciation of the Mother of God, in the name of the Apostles Peter and Paul and in the name of the Great Martyr Catherine. Under the Soviet regime, the temple was not closed, but the bells were removed from its bell tower, which for many years replaced used gas cylinders.
New 6 bells engraved with the names of entrepreneurs who allocated money for their manufacture were cast in 2001. At night, the church is illuminated by spotlights of different colors. The church is sometimes called "White" because of the color of its walls.
