Ternopil Castle was built in 1548 to protect against Turks and Tatars. In 1672 it was destroyed, and in the middle of the 19th century a palace in the Russian classical style was built in its place. In the 20th century, it was reconstructed more than once. In 2015, according to the decision of the city council, it is planned to open a city museum in the castle building.
