The Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, the oldest temple of Zbarazh, is located on the southwestern outskirts of the city in the area of Stary Zbarazh, in the village of Zaluzhye. Erected in 1600 on Chernecha Gora on the site of the Basilian monastery of the 15th century, then renamed the monastery of St. Onufry, and in 1589 destroyed by the Tatars. The defensive-type church had walls up to 2 meters thick, with loopholes under the windows at a height of 1.2 meters from the stone floor and on the bell tower. There are two altars in the church - a ceramic one on the right, with an icon of the Resurrection of Christ, and a carved wooden one on the left. There is a sundial on the outer south wall.
In 1961, the church was closed, gradually fell into disrepair, was looted. In 1989, the temple was returned to the believers, on whose donations it was repaired, while all the loopholes were walled up. In honor of the 400th anniversary of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in 2000, significant restoration work was carried out, a monument was erected in the courtyard in honor of this memorable date.
