Why the central promenade of the city is popularly called the Hundred is not known for certain. The most popular version says that this is due to the street length of a hundred meters. But given that the length of Cathedral Street is about 500 meters, this version does not sound very plausible. Another version connects the name of the Hundred with the Cossack administrative geography of Sumy.
