Holy Spirit Cathedral in the city of Romny - the oldest stone building in the Sumy region - an architectural monument in the Ukrainian baroque style of the 18th century. The cult ensemble consists of the three-domed Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Vasilyevsky Church with a bell tower, a priest's house and a brick fence. On the Market Square, where the cathedral is located, the famous annual Ilyinsky fair was held, which was transferred in 1852 to
Poltava. Near the cathedral is a cemetery for the clergy and famous parishioners.
In the 1930s, the cathedral was closed, the bells were sold for scrap, the iconostasis and icon case with gilding were seized, and a warehouse was arranged in the building.
