Hussar monument
Monument to the Hussars
Ukraine, Sumy
The sculpture of a hussar was installed in December 2011 in memory of the officers of the Sumy and Akhtyrsky hussar regiments, next to the house where the famous hussars, heroes of the Russian-French war of 1812, stayed, as evidenced by a memorial plaque. The bronze sculpture, 1.78 m high, was installed at the expense of a local businessman Viktor Fedorchenko. The sculpture by Bogdan Luklyan was cast using the wax casting method in Kharkov; it has some portrait resemblance to the famous hussar Denis Davydov. There is a belief that you need to rub the saber of a hussar so that you are lucky.
