The memorial "Fighters for the Freedom of Ukraine" is located in the very center of the city. It was opened in 2005. The memorial complex is located in the building of the former prison, which operated from 1898 to 1963, and is dedicated to the memory of political prisoners who served their sentences here during the Austro-Hungarian, Polish and Soviet occupation. The central place is occupied by the sculptural composition "Pieta", in which the mother holds her dead son in her arms.
