The lilac grove on the southern outskirts of Dikanka was founded in 1822 by the owner of these lands, Prince Viktor Pavlovich Kochubey, on the site of a closed quarry about five meters deep and more than 2 hectares in area, where clay was previously mined for his brick factory. According to legend, Kochubey created a lilac grove to improve the health of his sick daughter Anna. Seedlings of 40 varieties of lilac from around the world were brought to Dikanka, alleys were laid out in the quarry, benches were installed. After the 1917 revolution, the Kochubeys went abroad and the garden fell into disrepair. The lilac has pollinated, most of the varieties have disappeared, there are only five of them left. Local enthusiasts did not allow the complete destruction of the grove. Now it is part of the structure of the regional landscape park "Dikansky". Every spring, during the flowering of lilacs, Dikanka becomes a place of real tourist pilgrimage - here in the first half of May, the traditional holiday "Songs of the Lilac Grove" takes place.
