The monument to Poltava dumplings, erected in 2006 on
Ivanova Gora, is considered one of the symbols of Poltava. The opening of the monument was timed to coincide with the birthday of N.V. Gogol, who sang dumplings in his works, especially in Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka. Initially, the monument was erected next to the
Assumption Cathedral, but, at the request of believers, a year later it was moved to the Ivanova Gora restaurant. The commemorative sign is a metal shallow bowl with 17 concrete dumplings and a metal spoon next to it. This place is very popular with school trips, honeymooners and visitors to the city. Every year at the beginning of June, the Poltava Dumpling Festival is held near the monument.
