Museum of Panas Mirny
Panas Mirnogo Museum
Ukraine, Poltava
The museum of one of the classics of Ukrainian literature, Panas Mirny - the literary pseudonym Panas Rudchenko, is located in a house on the outskirts of Poltava, where the writer lived and worked from 1903 to 1920. In 1940, in the estate, which was visited at different times by L. Ukrainka, M. Zankovetskaya, N. Lysenko and other famous Ukrainians, a literary memorial museum was created.
The complex consists of the writer's house, built in 1860, an exhibition part, a bronze bust of the writer in the yard, a 1.5-hectare garden with preserved trees and bushes planted by Panas Mirny, and a small pond around which age-old willows and oaks grow. Seven rooms contain more than 150 manuscripts of Panas Mirny and his older brother I. Bilyk, together with whom he wrote the novel “Hiba roar of will, how is the manger again?”, personal belongings of the writer’s family, books, documents and photographs. Not far from the museum-estate, in the tract Zeleny Gay, where the writer liked to rest, there is his grave.
