Round Square - the historical center and symbol of Poltava - an architectural monument of national importance. The area has the shape of a circle with a diameter of 375 meters with eight streets diverging from it. In its center stands the monument of Glory, 16 meters high, with a gilded eagle on top. The central part of the square has turned into a cozy park - the Corps Garden. Administrative buildings are located around: government offices (now the City Council), a noble assembly (cinema), the house of the governor-general (council of trade unions), the Little Russian post office (central post office), the house of the vice-governor (school of arts), the Petrovsky cadet corps (former anti-aircraft -rocket school) - now mothballed from destruction, the old governor's house (the building of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs). In the underground part of the square, a shopping complex "Zlato Misto" was built.
