Dikan State Museum of History and Local Lore. D. M. Garmash was established in 1959 on the initiative of the teaching staff of the Dikan secondary school and worked for many years on a voluntary basis. In December 1978, the museum received the status of "State". Its exposition is located on two floors in 9 halls and has about 8,000 exhibits. Among the most interesting are the handmade chest of Kochubey, decorated with an intricate pattern, the work on which is attributed to the legendary blacksmith Vakula; valuable finds from Scythian burials; death mask of N.V. Gogol; locomobile - a steam tractor in the yard; a Polovtsian statue, etc. On the second floor there is an art department, two halls of which are dedicated to the life and work of the famous countrywoman, artist and writer Maria Bashkirtseva. Here you can see copies of Bashkirtseva's paintings, most of the originals of which are in foreign galleries.
