The Belskoe settlement of the end of the 8th - beginning of the 3rd centuries BC is located in the Kotelevsky district of the Poltava region on the banks of the Vorskla River. The ancient settlement, with an area of 4875 hectares, is considered the annalistic Scythian city of Gelon and consists of three fortified settlements united by one fortress wall, preserved in parts with a total length of about 37 km. The first excavations at the site were carried out in 1906 by V. A. Gorodtsov. Since 1954, excavations at the Belsk settlement have been carried out continuously. The finds are represented by tools, utensils, horse harness, bone and horn items, flint and metal items. A variety of buildings have been excavated: ground log cabins, dugouts, outbuildings, forges, and a bone carving workshop.
