Teschin bridge

Mother-in-law city
Ukraine, Odesa
"Teschin Bridge" is the popular name of the pedestrian bridge over the Military Spusk, built in 1969 and connecting Primorsky Boulevard and M. Zhvanetsky Boulevard. Odessans tell the guests of the city two versions of this name. The “mother-in-law” bridge became either from the fact that it is narrow and long (120 meters), and therefore sways in the wind like a “mother-in-law’s tongue”, or from the fact that the highest party leader of the region instructed to build a bridge so that it would be more convenient to walk in guests to mother-in-law for pancakes.
According to a long-standing tradition, after a solemn ceremony in the registry office, located nearby, the newlyweds left locks on the railing of the Mother-in-law bridge, symbolizing the strength of marriage bonds. To avoid the destruction of the bridge due to such an excessive load, in October 2011, the installation "Loving (Loving) Heart" was opened near the Mother-in-law Bridge, in the form of a metal heart, to which locks of lovers can be attached. Nearby, at the beginning of Zhvanetsky Boulevard, there is a "Corner of Old Odessa", where various elements of urban decor are collected on the lawn. The bridge offers a direct view of the port, an interesting perspective on the sea and the city.
