Holy Trinity Cathedral was founded in 1795 for the Greek community of Odessa. Initially it was wooden, in 1804 a stone church was laid, consecrated in the spring of 1808. Greek bishops were buried on the territory of the cathedral, in 1907 a prominent member of the Greek community, an honorary citizen of Odessa, Grigory Marazli, was buried here. After the revolution of 1917, the temple was turned into a gym, the burials were looted. In 1956, the metochion of the Patriarch of Alexandria in the Russian Orthodox Church was established at the temple, in 1999 it was transferred to Moscow. The Holy Trinity Greek Church was returned the status of the temple of the Odessa diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, after the repair a new dome was installed and the bell tower was restored. The revered image of the Mother of God “Unexpected Joy” is kept in the temple, Sunday schools for adults and children and a library are open.
